2 DEGREES MOBILE
2 Degrees launched into the NZ mobile phone market in 2009, taking on huge competitors with extensive exclusive retail networks.
Along with their excellent advertising, a key element in their success has been a strong retail strategy, which has included extensive use of high profile kiosks in key shopping malls in Auckland (Sylvia Park), Wellington (Queensgate) and Christchurch (Riccarton) during 2009 and 2010.
We have managed and staffed these kiosks, which until October 2010 were the only exclusive 2 Degrees retail outlets in the country, complementing the 2,700+ retail outlets like Dick Smith, Pak ‘n Save and petrol stations.
Our brand ambassadors receive extensive training in order to both demonstrate and sell 2 Degrees handsets, SIM cards, top-ups, mobile broadband and accessories. As 2 Degrees has started opening its own permanent retail stores, it’s been pleasing to see a number of our casual staff who have worked many hours in the kiosks successfully apply for permanent roles in the 2 Degrees stores.
More recently dozens of additional brand ambassadors have been trained from Auckland to Invercargill to allow 2 Degrees to have a dedicated brand representative on-site next to the brand’s product displays in major retail partners such as DSE and in the grocery channel. Like their pricing plans, a simple way to make it as easy as possible for New Zealanders to make the switch to 2 Degrees!
With over 200,000 kiwis joining 2 Degrees in its first six months and sign-ups continuing to track well ahead of both the company’s own forecasts and those of industry commentators, the numbers speak for themselves!
